Download + Review – Holoscene / Tunturia Split (Valkyrie, 2010)

Posted on October 4, 2010 by

A split between two Canadian bands, both of which play instrumental/post-rock in the vein of Mogwai / GSYBE / Explosions In The Sky etc. etc. Holoscene’s track (“Now She Is Lost”) starts out slow, but eventually grows into a furious heavy metal stomper, while Tunturia’s track (“Of The Valley They Made A Desert And Called It Peace”) feels  less developed -it veers in all sorts of directions without going anywhere in particular.

Both bands on this split are worthy of checking out if you’re into post-rock/ambience, but the winner is Holoscene with  “Now She Is Lost”.

Note – the artwork for the record was created by Seldon Hunt.
